Drosera coccicaulis, Sundew, live carnivorous plant, potted

Drosera coccicaulis, Sundew, live carnivorous plant, potted

$16.00

This is a beautifully rosetted sundew with spoon shaped leaves. The newer leaves tend to be more erect while the lower leaves hug the soil. Originally from Africa, these Drosera are great for beginners. They are easy to care for and tend to clump up over time. They can become quite red in strong light. The flower stalks are tall and thin with many pinkish flowers. They are sequential bloomers but the flowers are short lived. The plants grow to approximately 2-3 inches across in size. They require no dormancy and prefer subtropical conditions. They are excellent at catching small insects like ants, mosquitoes, and gnats. They grow well indoors in a sunny windowsill.

They are currently in a 3.5" pot and will be shipped potted.

Drosera Care: Sundews do best in bright, indirect light. They are well suited for growing on window ledges or outdoors during warm months. They must be watered with non-chlorinated water preferably with a low TDS (between 0 and 25ppm). You can use rain water, RO or distilled. Allow to dry slightly but not completely in between waterings. When watering, place plants in a tray and pour water in tray about 1/2” (referred to as the tray method). Avoid watering the crown of the plant. Temperature should be maintained between 60°F and 85°F. They are not too particular about humidity requirements. If your Drosera has little to no dew, increase light. They generally do well in open terrariums.
