Ludisia discolor is a lovely jewel orchid from southeast Asia and northeast India. Ludisia is a monotypic genus but it is allied with several genus' like Macodes and Anoectochilus. This is a relatively small orchid that is easy to care far. The leaves are a dark green nearing black with beautiful rose colored veining. The rose color is carried through to the back of the leaves and the fleshy stem. They have simple white flowers held atop a high inflorescence.

Care: They make great houseplants and need the same care as an African Violet. They need low light with no direct sun. They also like to be kept evenly moist and do well with high humidity. They are warm growers throughout the year. They do well in terrariums or vivariums.
